Vidarbha spinner Harsh Dubey added three more wickets to his Ranji Trophy 2025 tally through the course of his latest spell against Kerala in the final at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. The 22-year-old picked up the prized-scalps of Kerala number three and half-centurion Aditya Sarwate, in-form Salman Nizar and tailender MD Nidheesh to bag figures of 3-88 from 44 overs.
Remarkably, Dubey has now attained a significant Ranji Trophy landmark of picking up the highest number of wickets in a single season.
Harsh Dubey scales huge Ranji record at age 22
Harsh Dubey made his first-class debut for Vidarbha back in December 2022 with a match against Jammu and Kashmir. To date, he has picked up 97 wickets in the format. Notably, Dubey has harvested 69 of those wickets in the ongoing 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season alone in just 19 innings at an exceptional bowling average of 16.98.
At the age of 22, the Pune-born cricketer now holds the record of picking up the highest number of wickets in a single Ranji Trophy season, going past the previous record set by Bihar spinner Ashutosh Aman back in 2018-19 with 68 wickets from eight innings.
Here is a look at five bowlers with the highest number of wickets to their names in a single Ranji Trophy season:
Bowler | Ranji Trophy season | Innings | Wickets | Average |
---|---|---|---|---|
Harsh Dubey | 2024/25 | 19 | 69 | 16.98 |
Ashutosh Aman | 2018/19 | 14 | 68 | 6.48 |
Jaydev Unadkat | 2019/20 | 16 | 67 | 13.23 |
Kanwaljit Singh | 1999/00 | 20 | 59 | 24.06 |

Harsh Dubey, with 69 wickets from 19 innings, finds himself 25 wickets ahead of Auqib Nabi and Shams Mulani in terms of leading the wicket-taking race of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy.
Moreover, the Vidarbha spin prodigy can add a few more wickets to his tally during the impending second innings of Kerala in the ongoing final in Nagpur.
