Pakistan cricket has been under fire following their disappointing exit from the T20 World Cup. After losing to India and the USA, they failed to qualify for the Super Eight round.

Many former Pakistani cricket legends have been vocal about rebuilding the national team after their disappointing exit from the T20 World Cup.

Shahid Afridi, in particular, has criticized Babar Azam for not supporting Shaheen Afridi's continuance at captaincy . He had also blamed Babar Azam for lost against India in the group game.

Shaheen Afridi was appointed T20I captain after Pakistan's 2023 ODI World Cup loss, but was replaced by Babar earlier this year, who then led Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2024. Under Shaheen, Pakistan for just one series against New Zealand in an away tour.

Shahid Afridi, active on social media, today quoted a fan's tweet, talking about the 2009 T20 World Cup-winning team. He stated that despite internal issues, captain Younis Khan resolved them and led the team to victory.

However, Younis Khan has a different perspective on Afridi's role in the Pakistan dressing room in 2009. He accuses Afridi of playing politics within the team, claiming Afridi used the Holy Quran to make teammates swear an oath against him. 

Younis Khan adds that Afridi now portrays himself as a saint but accuses Afridi to be a double faced person. Younis Khan asserts Afridi to stay away from PCB matters.

After winning the 2009 T20 World Cup, Younis Khan was removed as captain because of the players revolt, and he believes this was mainly due to Shahid Afridi's internal politics in team. 

Shahid Afridi replaced Younis Khan as the white ball captain of Pakistan after Younis was moved from the captaincy.
