Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf was recently involved in an intense verbal altercation with a fan following team’s crashing first-round exit from the T20 World Cup 2024. The speedster, who picked up clinical figures of 3-21 amidst defeat to India, was encroached by a Pakistani fan in USA and the video of their ‘street fight’ have been circulating all across social media.

The incident drew in much flak from all corners of the cricketing spectrum, with several fans disparaging Rauf for engaging with an unruly fan in the first place.

Haris Rauf’s teammate and out-of-favour Pakistani fast bowler Hasan Ali has now given his take over the controversial matter by taking to X .


Hasan Ali reacts to Haris Rauf’s controversy

Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali, who was not selected in the national squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup, took to X and expressed his reaction over Haris Rauf’s controversial ‘street fight’ with a fan. 

Upon stumbling across the video on social media, Hasan urged all Pakistani cricket fans to be constructive with their criticism instead of being inconsiderate towards a player’s feelings.

He also asked fans to “promote love, peace and respect” for the game as Pakistan fans. Hasan Ali wrote:

In retrospect, Pakistan crashed to humiliating defeats against USA and India at the 2024 T20 World Cup to fail to qualify for the Super Eight round of the competition. 

However, Haris Rauf himself emerged as one of the beacons of light amidst team’s lacklustre outing as the speedster claimed seven wickets in the tournament from just four innings.

Rauf’s figures of 3-21 also dismantled Team India before Pakistan’s batting line-up bottled an easy target later in the run-chase.
