Rohit Sharma entered the history books after he led India to their 2nd T20 World Cup trophy on June 29.

India beat South Africa by seven runs in the finals, and with the win, Rohit Sharma became the 3rd Indian captain after Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni to lead India to a World Cup triumph.

Before the start of the World Cup, there were speculations over Rohit's form as he struggled in the IPL. However, the hitman shut the critics as he was the tournament's second-leading run-getter with 257 runs.

Rohit played a similar role during the 2023 World Cup, where he provided the early starts for the rest of the batters to capitalise and post a big total.

Meanwhile, an old video of newly appointed India's head coach, Gautam Gambhir, has been going viral where he called Rohit a 'Selfless captain'.

In the video, Gambhir praised Rohit's ability to not focus on personal milestones and cited an example of one of his innings where he got out after scoring 87. Gautam stated that Rohit could have slowed down to complete his century, but he did not.

It is worth noting that Gambhir has always valued Rohit's abilities as a captain and even vouched for hitman's appointment as India's captain in 2020. Even back then, he had remarked that it would be India's loss if Rohit were to not be made captain.
