Kolkata Knight Riders have already begun their preparations for IPL 2025 as they are looking for replacements for Gautam Gambhir, who left the post of KKR's mentor to join India as head coach.

Gambhir had a massive impact on KKR, as he was roped in by the franchise ahead of IPL 2024, and his great auction strategy and match awareness helped KKR lift their 3rd IPL title, ending a 10-year-old trophy drought.

In the latest events, there are reports that the three-time IPL winners are keeping South Africa legend Jacques Kallis as one of the options to replace Gambhir as KKR mentor.

The 48-year-old represented KKR as a player from 2011-14 and even served as their head coach for IPL 2015. The legendary all-rounder was also the batting consultant for the Men in Purple & Gold.

The news was reported by KKR Xtra, one of the biggest KKR fanclub on social media platforms where they cited Telegraph India as their source. However, it is still very early for KKR to narrow down on a person for the head coach's role as they will still look for more options.

There were also speculations that the outgoing India head coach Rahul Dravid will replace Gambhir as KKR's mentor.

Meanwhile, there are also reports that their assistant coach, Abhishek Nayar, is also approached by the Indian team as Gambhir has asked BCCI to add him to his coaching staff. The former India opener has also asked Ryan Ten Doeschate, who is with KKR to join the Men in Blue's coaching staff.
