It's been 13 years since Virat Kohli debuted in red-ball cricket for India. Since then, Kohli has become India's flag bearer of cricket, succeeding the era of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and VVS Laxman.

Virat Kohli made his Test debut against the West Indies on June 20th at Kingston, Jamaica. However, it wasn't the kind of debut he had hoped for. He was dismissed by Fidel Edwards in both innings, scoring only 19 runs in total.

In the first innings, he managed just 4 runs, and in the second innings, he scored 15 runs off 54 balls. Despite his modest performance, India won the game by 63 runs.

The match took place after the 2011 World Cup, with senior players like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Gautam Gambhir not participating. Virat Kohli was given a chance to play alongside Murali Vijay and Abhinav Mukund.

Even though Virat didn't make a mark that day, he went on to become one of India's all-time greats in the format. From 113 games and 191 innings, he has scored 8,848 runs at an average of 49.1, including 29 Test hundreds.

After playing group games in the USA, India is now in the West Indies, the soil where Virat Kohli debuted in Test cricket. Fans are hoping to see Kohli make a strong comeback in the World Cup and be India's pivotal player in the tournament.
