New reports have emerged that the BCCI is likely to appoint both Gautam Gambhir and WV Raman as the head coaches of the men's team, as the BCCI looks for someone to be the successor of the departing Rahul Dravid.

The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) interviewed both Gambhir and Raman on June 18, after inviting applications for the vacancy that Dravid will be leaving after the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup.

Both Gambhir and WV Raman likely to be appointed by BCCI

According to recent reports, the CAC consists of Ashok Malhotra, Jatin Paranjape, and Sulakshana Naik will have to make a tough decision on how to use the capabilities of both the ex-cricketers given that one has already had significant time as a coach at multiple levels while the other has just mentored IPL franchises, albeit showing promise with his methods.

The options of how to utilize the two will be, first, to give the head coach's position to Gambhir while WV Raman becomes the batting coach or second, the other way around with the latter having more say in the team.

WV Raman, who has represented India in 11 Tests and 27 ODIs has previously also coached the Indian women's team from December 2018 to May 2021 while Gambhir has helped KKR their first IPL title in a decade recently.
