Gautam Gambhir is most likely to take over the responsibilities as the next head coach of the Indian men's team at the end of the ongoing T20 World Cup and Kamran Akmal has suggested the BCCI to approach either Zaheer Khan or Ashish Nehra for the bowling coach's job.

In a recent interview, Kamral Akmal who famously had a spat with Gautam Gambhir during an India v Pakistan clash in the 2010 edition of the Asia Cup appreciated BCCI's move to give India's coaching reigns to Gambhir, calling him the best option to take over the job from Rahul Dravid who will end his term at the end of June.

"Whatever Gambhir touches turns into gold. The team he joins becomes successful. India doesn't need any foreign coaches. They have plenty of options and talent. There is no better option than Gambhir after Dravid. He was a big player and will become a great coach too. He is the best option India have right now," said the former cricketer.

Akmal has also recommended the board to approach the Indian bowling legends Zaheer Khan or Ashish Nehra and make one of them their bowling coach.

"We played, had food, had chats together, and are still good friends. We are still in touch. He should be the head coach and India can go for Ashish Nehra or Zaheer Khan as bowling coach," said Akmal.

Gautam Gambhir, WV Raman, and another undisclosed overseas name were interviewed by the Cricket Advisory Committee on Tuesday, June 18. However, reportedly, the announcement of Gambhir taking over is imminent.
