Kuldeep Yadav is likely to be back in action vs AFG (X.com)
India's journey to T20 World Cup 2024's Super 8 Stage will get underway on Thursday (June 20) when they face Rashid Khan-led Afghanistan at Kensington Oval, Barbados.
Given the fact that the USA's conditions are drastically different than those in the Caribbean, the Men in Blue, led by Rohit Sharma, might look to make a change in their playing XI, which remained unbeaten throughout the Group stage.
India will look to bring in a wicket-taking spinner, and they have one of the best in the business on their roster in the form of Kuldeep Yadav. Even though they also have Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep should get a nod ahead of Chahal due to his continuous success in national colours.
To bring in Kuldeep, Rohit Sharma has two options: either drop Ravindra Jadeja or Mohammed Siraj. Both Siraj and Jadeja are yet to make a significant impact in the competition, and hence, Rohit might have to take a tough call instead of dropping Shivam Dube, who is more of a designated finisher and can also chip in with bowling if required.
As we noticed, Rohit did not use much of Jadeja's bowling lately. Instead, he kept faith in Axar Patel. Therefore, Ravindra Jadeja should ideally be the man who is expected to be sidelined, giving Rohit too many options to play with.
The rest, of course, will keep their places in the playing XI.
