For a man who is renowned for shattering records and producing astonishing numbers on the cricket field, India legend Virat Kohli struggled with them during his schooling days as he revealed he used to find Math the most troubling of all subjects in childhood.

The modern-day batting great, who has the game's most eye-catching records under his belt, revealed his struggles to pass the Math examination in school and why he worked extremely hard to ensure he doesn't have to study the subject after his 10th standard exams.

Speaking in his famous interview with Graham Bensinger in 2019, Kohli joked at his own expense and said he used to often fail the subject, but upon learning that he would have a choice if he wanted to continue studying Math after his matric exams, he made sure he learnt and passed the exam to never deal with the subject again.

When Kohli Joked About His Math Struggles

"So in math, we used to have exams and the maximum marks we could get in 100, right. I used to get 3, I was that good. I did not understand, why someone would even want to learn math. I could not understand the complications. I mean why do things have to be so difficult, I have never used those formulas in life till now."

"I just wanted to get through my 10th Grade exam, because they used to happen at a state level and after that, you could choose if you wanted to continue with math or not. I’m telling you, have never worked that hard in cricket the way I did to pass that exam so that I could avoid the subject forever," he added.

Today, Kohli has all the numbers of the game at his feet and boasts of a tremendous track record across formats for the country, with the great cricketer showcasing an unparalleled understanding of on-field Math and acing whatever equation is posed as a challenge to the master of run-chases.
