KL Rahul was seen travelling to Ranchi after being declared fit from his quadriceps pain at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore and looks ripe to make a comeback with the fourth Test against England.

The elegant right-hander had missed the previous two Tests in Visakhapatnam and Rajkot due to recurring pain in his quads, having undergone surgery over the same last year after hurting his hamstring on May 1 playing for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2023.

The quad injury rained on Rahul's highly impressive return to the Test side. Transforming into a middle-order batter upon comeback late last year after spending his previous 48 Tests as an opener, Rahul scored a memorable century in Centurion during the tour of South Africa and struck a high-class 86 in the first Test against England in Hyderabad.

Soon after the first Test, Rahul complained to the team management and the medical staff about the pain in his quadriceps and was immediately sent for rehab at the NCA in Bangalore while skipping the second Test in Vizag.

Even though the cricketer had nearly recovered from the injury ahead of the third Test in Rajkot, he was given extra time to recuperate by the Indian team and NCA physios.

Now with full recovery attained, Rahul is set to bolster an inexperienced Indian batting order, taking the place of the struggling Rajat Patidar in the fourth Test in Ranchi.

In Rahul's absence, Patidar made his Test debut in Vizag and then Sarfaraz Khan kickstarted his career in Rajkot. Of the two young players, Sarfaraz managed to impress the selectors with a pair of half-centuries and should retain his spot at No.6.
