The boon of artificial intelligence has also proven to be a bane for common people and multiple popular personalities, as the misuse of the technology has been viral on social media. The global cricketing icon became the latest victim of the Deepfake technology used by scammers via AI.

The great batter and his face had been misused by the scamsters to give credibility to their false claim on a brand advertisement, promising high returns on users' investment in the product. Using AI, the scammers added a clip of a famous TV channel journalist to make it look as if the advertisement is being shown during live news.

During the advertisement, Virat Kohli is seen claiming that the users can expect to earn upto INR 81,000 for investments worth 1,000 or more in just three days. The Deepfake ad was exposed by journalist Shubham Shukla on Twitter as the AI misuse continued with Kohli becoming the latest victim.

Kohli's Face Misused By Scammers Via AI

In the latest video, scammers added the clip of Kohli's famous interview with Graham Bensinger and overlapped his voice with a fake one that spoke of their script and promoted the brand. Using AI, the lip-sync was changed and dialogues were produced in Deepfake.

It isn't clear if the cricketer is aware of the Deepfake technology being used on his face to promote false claims and brands and if any legal action has been taken by Kohli against the misusers.

The ace right-hander is currently away from the playing scene due to "personal reasons", completely withdrawing from India's five-Test series against England at home to be with his family and wife Anushka Sharma during a challenging time. Speculations have been rife in the matter, with some reports alleging that the cricketer is expecting the birth of his second child.
