Virat Kohli is all set to play his 200th game in the Indian Premier League against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 31st match of the ongoing edition in Abu Dhabi. Kohli has played only for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in his IPL career that started way back in the inaugural season in 2008.
He rose to the leadership of the franchise in 2013 when Daniel Vettori decided to quit the captaincy and has led the RCB since then. He will become only the first player to represent a particular franchise in 200 games with the man behind him MS Dhoni stands way apart from him with 182 appearances for the Chennai Super Kings.
Earlier yesterday, Kohli announced that he will give up the captaincy of the Royal Challengers after the conclusion of the ongoing edition of the league.
He has led the franchise on 132 occasions and doesn’t have a record to be proud of with 66 losses and 62 wins against his name. He has been a prolific batsman though for the franchise with 6076 runs at an average of 37.97 and a strike rate of 130.41 from 191 innings. His batting numbers are better while leading the side as he has amassed 4,674 runs at an astounding average of 43.27 and strike rate of 134 from 132 matches.
