The Indian team traveling to London for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final will depart in multiple groups. The initial batch, consisting mainly of support staff members, including Rahul Dravid, have already departed. The complete squad will assemble together for the WTC final by May 30, after the conclusion of the IPL on May 28.

Since their respective teams did not qualify for the IPL playoffs, players like Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, and Mohammed Siraj will be part of one of the first groups leaving for London. Virat Kohli and R Ashwin, representing Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals respectively in the IPL, will also be leaving soon as per reports. KKR player, Umesh Yadav would also be leaving a little later for England.

Initially, the plan was to send the first batch of players immediately after the conclusion of the IPL league stage on Sunday. However, some players have requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to allow them to leave at a later date. As a result, departures are expected to occur daily until May 30, with logistics arrangements being made accordingly.

Jaydev Unadkat, who has been undergoing rehabilitation for a shoulder injury at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, is expected to be fit for the WTC final and may leave after May 27. Among the three standby players, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Suryakumar Yadav will travel after their IPL teams, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, complete their commitments.

It has also come to light that the Indian team may not have a warm-up match before the WTC final. Instead, the plan is to have an intra-squad game among the touring members after everyone arrives in London. The final against Australia will take place at the Oval in London.
