On Wednesday, May 9, India skipper Rohit Sharma took to social media where he announced his retirement from Test cricket. The 38-year-old bid adieu to the red-ball cricket after donning the Test jersey for 12 years.
The decision left fans in shock as India are set to tour England for a five-match Test series in June and the WTC runners-up will be with a new captain. Now since Rohit has hanged up his boots, the Mumbai fans have got excited as they are contemplating whether the hitman will play upcoming edition of Mumbai T20 League 2025.
Notably, the MCA are bringing the upcoming edition on a bigger scale as it will feature all big India stars such as Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, and Prithvi Shaw. The upcoming season will start from May 26 to June 8. Rohit Sharma is named as the brand ambassador of the league, but will the hitman play?
Will Rohit Sharma Play In Mumbai T20 League 2025?
It is worth noting that the MCA had clearly stated that the Indian players who are not a part of upcoming England tour, will have to feature in Mumbai T20 League 2025. Now since Rohit is available, the hitman should play, but he won't as the auction has already taken place at the Wankhede Stadium before his retirement announcement.
Notably, before the auction, eight teams roped in their icon stars and since Rohit was an active player when auction took place at the Wankhede Stadium on May 7, the hitman won't be taking part in the upcoming edition of Mumbai T20 League 2025.
