Injuries continue to take a toll on players participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The latest team to have an injury setback is the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) who have lost Sisanda Magala for two weeks due to a split webbing.

The South African all-rounder joined the CSK camp as a replacement player for injured Kyle Jamieson, but now has to sit on the sidelines, anticipating a quick recovery.

Sisanda Magala injury

Magala's split webbing occurred during CSK's game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Wednesday. He took R Ashwin's catch and that is when the player got hurt. As a result, he did not complete his full quota of four overs.

He joins the casualty list alongside Ben Stokes (knee and toe injury), Deepak Chahar (back issues), MS Dhoni (knee injury), and Simarjeet Singh (unspecified injury), as CSK struggle with injury related issues.

Head coach, Stephen Fleming also talked about the number of injuries taking place in the CSK camp.

“Deepak Chahar is (out for) two-or-three weeks, Simarjeet Singh… I am guessing a little bit here… he is (out for) 10 days, Ben Stokes is improving day by day, Mukesh Choudhary is out, Magala is out for at least two weeks," revealed Fleming in his post-match press conference on Wednesday.

He also gave an insight into what happened to Sisanda Magala.

“For us again, it’s losing another player - that’s two games in a row - and we’re already pretty thin, so we’d like it (injuries) to stop. Magala’s hand was split, unfortunately, so he was unable to bowl those last two overs. And the same with Deepak Chahar in the last game, so we’re operating on pretty thin resources. But we’re not the only team to have that."

Talking about the match, RR posted a healthy 175 on the board, courtesy of yet another fifty by Jos Buttler. In reply, CSK started on a positive note, thanks to Devon Conway and Ajinkya Rahane, but faltered in the middle overs.

It wasn't until MSD stepped in that CSK fans had a glimmer of hope. Eventually the Yellow Army fell short of the target by 3 runs.
