With the geopolitical tension between India and Pakistan easing following a mutually agreed ceasefire, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is poised to resume the suspended IPL 2025 season later this week. A final decision on the revised schedule is expected to be announced by Monday (May 12), after discussions between the BCCI and the Government of India.

The IPL 2025 was abruptly suspended due to escalating regional tensions, with several overseas players exiting the country amid the uncertainty. Now, with the situation stabilizing, the BCCI has drawn up three potential schedules for the remainder of the tournament.

The IPL Governing Council is set to meet on Monday afternoon to finalise the resumption roadmap.

IPL 2025: 3 Proposals On The Table Prepared By BCCI

According to cricbuzz, one of the three draft schedules prepared by BCCI proposes a return to the traditional home-and-away format across all host venues, with the exception of Dharamsala, which may be excluded for logistical or security reasons.

The other two options revolve around reduced-venue model, focusing primarily on cities such as Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai. Despite reports of the limited-venue options being under serious consideration, none of the local cricket associations involved have received official communication from the BCCI as of yet.

It is important to note that all three draft schedules are under active review, and the final decision will hinge on operational feasibility, security clearances, and input from central and state governments.

Franchises Told To Regroup Ahead Of IPL 2025 Restart

In a sign that preparations are already underway, IPL franchises have reportedly been instructed by the BCCI to regroup at their respective bases. This unofficial communication has further fueled speculation that the league could restart as early as May 16 or 17.

One of the significant challenges facing the tournament’s restart is the uncertainty surrounding foreign player availability. Several overseas players left India amid last week’s crisis, and it remains unlikely that all of them will return to fulfil their contracts.
