Virat Kohli announced his retirement from test Cricket on the morning of May 12, 2025, after days of speculations around his exit. While he put down his mantle, he left a legacy to be cherished by fans and future generations alike.

As the cricket world poured in wishes for Virat Kohli, BCCI adorned the special moment too and paid him a tribute with the collage of his historic wins and glorious moments in the Whites. 

BCCI's Emotional Homage For Kohli

The video, shared across the BCCI’s official social media platforms, seamlessly wove together iconic moments from Kohli’s career, his gritty debut in 2011, record-breaking centuries, fiery captaincy, dressing room celebrations, and emotional milestones, capturing the essence of a player who redefined modern Test cricket. 

The caption of the clip read, "Illustrious legacy. Inspiring intensity 👏Incredible icon ❤️The Former #TeamIndia Captain gave it all to Test Cricket 🙌Thank you for the memories in whites, Virat Kohli 🫡"

Set to an evocative soundtrack, it also featured Kohli's monologue in the backdrop where he iterated what it means for the star to play Test cricket. 

"The idea was to play test cricket for India. And that was always the goal. This is the highest level. The thing that excited me about Test Cricket was The Challenge. The motivation is I want to play for as long as possible for my team," Kohli said in the voiceover.

Virat Kohli's Legacy in Whites

Virat Kohli’s Test career is one of the most illustrious in Indian cricket history. Over 123 Tests, he amassed 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85, including 30 centuries and seven double hundreds-the most by any Indian batter. 

He is also India’s most successful Test captain, leading the side in 68 matches with 40 wins and a win percentage of 58.82%. Kohli’s aggressive captaincy and prolific batting helped India secure historic series wins, including the first Test series victory in Australia in 2018-19.
