Will come back, when I feel the time is right: Hardik Pandya on Test future

Hardik Pandya is being groomed as India's next white-ball skipper

Ever since making his comeback from injury, Hardik Pandya's workload has been kept under constant check. The all-rounder forms an integral part of India's white-ball setup and is in line to become the next captain after Rohit Sharma. 

Once a part of the Test side, speaking at the presser after the final T20I against New Zealand, Pandya revealed that his red-ball comeback will have to wait. 

In his short 11 Test career, Pandya has scored 532 runs, including one hundred and four fifties. He has also picked up 17 wickets, with a best of 5 for 28.

As per the Hindustan Times, the Gujarat Titans skipper said that his current focus remains on limited-overs cricket.

"I will come (back) when I feel (it's) the right time to play Test-match cricket. ​Right now, I'm going to focus on white-ball cricket, which is important, and if time is right and body is fine, I'll give (the long format) a try."

The 29-year-old could next be seen in action in the ODI series against Australia, which begins next month after the completion of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.  

The Gujarat-born has played 71 ODIs and 87 T20Is, amassing 2,789 runs and scalping 137 wickets, combined.
