As per the latest reports, the Indian cricket team starring Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma is set to arrive in Vadodara starting from the 7th. Vadodara will serve as the camp venue where the players will assemble and begin their practice sessions.

The India ODI team will carry out their preparations at this camp with Virat Kohli opting out of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26. Notably, almost all other player who are set to play the New Zealand ODIs will also be moving out for the camp, snubbing the tournament.

Earlier reports had suggested that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma would not continue in the Vijay Hazare Trophy after playing two matches each for their respective teams, Mumbai and Delhi.

Virat Kohli out of VHT as Pant plays last game against Railways

This latest development, reported by Jagran News journalist Abhishek Tripathi, now confirms that Virat Kohli will no longer be available for the upcoming matches of the domestic tournament. This also explains why Kohli had to withdraw from the Delhi vs Railways clash on January 6, despite being keen to play the game.

Virat Kohli, along with Rohit Sharma, is set to arrive at the Vadodara training camp by January 7, as they are keen to begin preparations early, which will result in them missing the remaining Vijay Hazare Trophy fixtures.

Notably, Rishabh Pant, who was leading Delhi in the tournament, is playing the ongoing match against Railways, and reportedly, it will be his last appearance before the India vs New Zealand ODI series.

Iyer, Gill, Jadeja to follow Kohli?

This also means that Shreyas Iyer, who was earlier reported to be leading Mumbai in place of the injured Shardul Thakur, might also opt out of the tournament during preparations for the India vs New Zealand ODI series.

Mumbai had originally wanted Shreyas Iyer to captain the side, and there was a possibility of him featuring in the last two league matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, that now appears unlikely, as the ODI series concludes on January 18, the same date as the Vijay Hazare Trophy final.

Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja are also set to share a similar fate, as they will not be appearing in any further Vijay Hazare Trophy matches due to their preparations for the upcoming ODI fixtures. The first ODI between India and New Zealand will take place on January 11.
