Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has entered the PSL draft ahead of the upcoming 2026 edition. The speedster was recently disbarred from the KKR franchise from participating in IPL 2026 upon BCCI’s instruction.
The Indian board made the call in light of prevailing geo-political tensions between India and Bangladesh.
Mustafizur Rahman joins rebel Pakistani league after IPL snub
Mustafizur Rahman has entered the PSL draft ahead of the upcoming 2026 edition of the tournament in Pakistan. The speedster registered himself for the draft mere days after getting rejected by the BCCI and the KKR franchise from participating in IPL 2026 in India.
It is worth noting that Mustafizur was acquired by the KKR franchise during the IPL 2026 auction late last year for a staggering sum of Rs. 9.20 crores. However, in light of the rising anti-India sentiments and the attack on Hindu religious minorities in Bangladesh, the BCCI instructed KKR to release the senior fast bowler from their squad.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) strongly responded to Mustafizur Rahman’s late IPL 2026 snub by refusing to send the Bangladesh cricket team to India in next month’s 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Moreover, the BCB has even urged the ICC to relocate their share of T20 World Cup matches to Sri Lanka.
The Bangladesh government also put a stop to the broadcast of IPL matches in the country, doing so just a couple of months prior to the IPL 2026 season in India.
Nonetheless, Mustafizur Rahman is now gearing up to enter the PSL 2026 season in Pakistan. The 30-year-old last played PSL back during the 2017-18 edition of the tournament for the Lahore Qalandars franchise.
