Tim Southee has added yet another feather to his illustrious cap. The veteran pacer has surpassed the legendary Daniel Vettori to become New Zealand's leading wicket-taker in international cricket.

He achieved the feat during the third ODI against Pakistan in Karachi on Friday.

Southee inspired New Zealand to a riveting series win, bagging 3 for 56 in 10 overs. He got the scalps of Agha Salman, Mohammad Nawaz, and Usama Mir.

The 34-year-old has 697 wickets in 351 international games, at an average of 29.38. To breakdown the numbers - He has 353 wickets in 90 Test matches, 210 wickets in ODIs, and 134 wickets in 107 T20I matches.

On the other hand, Vettori has 696 international wickets. Behind them are Sir Richard Hadlee (589 wickets), and Trent Boult (578 wickets).

Southee is the 15th highest ranked wicket-taker in international cricket. The top of the list is occupied by Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralidaran (1,347 wickets).

Thanks to his scintillating bowling efforts, and contributions from Glenn Phillips, New Zealand were able to clinch the series 2-1. This is their first series win in Pakistan since 1969.
