It is the mega day of the Lanka Premier League, with two solid sides Jaffna Kings and Colombo Stars, facing each other in the finals to be played at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

In the group stage, Jaffna ended up second on the table, managing to win six matches out of eight, while their opponents were not far behind with the third position on the charts after winning just three matches.

In the playoffs, the Kings faced the Falcons in Qualifier 1 and got the better of them in a rain-curtailed encounter to reach the finals directly without any hassle.

On the other hand, Colombo got through two hurdles in Galle Gladiators and Kandy Falcons in the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 stage. Their performance was outstanding, and that is the reason why they made it through to the finals.

Overall, in the history of the competition, Jaffna Kings have dominated Colombo Stars by having a 4-2 lead over them in six matches played by these sides in total.

While the match is expected to be one hell of an encounter, there is one thing that could hamper the joy of the fans, as there is a 55% chance of rain during the game. But we will keep our fingers crossed in the hope of getting a full match.

• Kasun Rajitha bagged a four wicket haul in the second Qualifier against Kandy where he gave away just 20 runs.
• Vijayakanth Viyaskanth has been terrific in this entire edition where he has scalped 13 wickets in 7 matches that too at an outstanding economy of 6.79.

Prediction

With stakes extremely high, this one might just go down to the wire. Both these sides have decent names in their armoury but looking at the past performances, Jaffna Kings might just steal the show with their fire-power.
