Cricket Australia (CA) is all set to publicly release the announcement of their new Chairman - Mike Baird. The former New South Wales premier is all set to become the CA chairman after the current Chairman Lachlan Henderson hinted at resigning from the role.

CA Directors are set on the decision and believe that Baird is the best person to take the role forward. Several Chairmen of state associations also held a meeting to confirm their support of the decision.

Henderson, the outgoing Chairman has accepted the role of Chief Executive at the not-for-profit fund HBF and will take on the position in October. He will not be based in Melbourne as the CEO of Epworth Health, but will likely remain the Director.

Baird, who is based in Sydney as the Chief Executive of HammondCare also served as a Director of Cricket New South Wales from the years 2019 to 2020. Baird will be the highest-profile Chairman in the history of Cricket Australia, which, administrators believe will open doors for the board.

The change of positions is taking place at a very critical time, as Cricket Australia is already in broadcast rights negotiations, collective bargaining talks with the Australian Cricketers Association had the question of whether the Big Bash League should be privatised.
