In a massive turnaround, BCCI sacked its entire selection panel after T20 World Cup 2022 debacle in a rather unexpected manner causing chaos all of a sudden. The four member committee chaired by Chetan Sharma were eliminated on 18th November without any prior intimidation.

The apex body released the statement in which it mentioned that five vacant selectors positions are up for grabs and should be applied before 28th of November.

Now, some names have already started doing rounds which include Laxman Sivaramakrishnan from South Zone considering he has had immense backing from former big boss N Srinivasan. Another name Ajit Agarkar is coming up as he was a prominent member of the Indian line-up along with his decent IPL credentials, making him a strong candidate from West Zone.

Current Mumbai selector Salil Ankola a close associate of BCCI treasurer Ashish Shelar, is also in the reckoning from West Zone.

Moreover, Sunil Joshi from South might also get an eye in since he could be nominated by BCCI President Roger Binny himself. Also, he has two more years left in his tenure for which he could reapply.

Shib Sundar Das from East Zone could also be a favourite but remains to be seen if others get the chance too.

Central Zone and North Zone candidates could be chosen after recommendation from BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla.

However, all the candidates will be chosen after going through the required procedure conducted by Cricket Advisory Committee.
