Yashasvi Jaiswal to play SMAT 2025-26 for Mumbai
Indian Test opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has confirmed his availability for the Mumbai cricket team for the remainder of the ongoing 2025-26 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. A senior Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) official confirmed the development while speaking with CricBuzz. Yashasvi Jaiswal recently plundered a match-winning century against South Africa in Vizag in his comeback ODI series.
Jaiswal’s last appearance in a SMAT fixture occurred way back during the 2023-24 edition in the quarterfinal for Mumbai. The blistering left-handed opener could not take part in the 2024-25 season of SMAT due to national commitments for the Indian team.
Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal wedding called off
Indian women’s vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has cleared the air regarding her proposed wedding with music composer Palash Muchhal. Soon after their romantic engagement at the DY Patil Stadium, a venue where Smriti lifted the 2025 Women’s World Cup last month, she was supposed to marry Muchhal on November 23. However, their wedding got postponed as Smriti’s father as well as Palash suddenly fell ill and were rushed to the hospital.
After days of speculation regarding a possible affair on part of Palash, the Indian women’s opener has now confirmed that their wedding has been called off, and she urged fans and followers to respect the privacy of both families.
Steve Smith levels with Rahul Dravid in catching record
Steve Smith snared five catches in the second Test of the 2025-26 Ashes series against England, including three on Day 4 at the Gabba, to level up with Rahul Dravid as the joint second-most successful fielder in Tests in terms of number of catches taken (210). He started off the day by plucking a one-handed screamer to dismiss Will Jacks, before catching Brydon Carse to gift Michael Neser his maiden five-wicket haul in Tests.
Steve Smith (39 catches) also surpassed Greg Chappell in terms of taking most catches as a fielder against a single opponent in a particular country, as Australia flogged England by eight wickets to go 2-0 up in the 2025-26 Ashes series.
