Marsh open for Ashes return despite retirement
The report added that Marsh, who has not played a solitary Test for Australia since BGT 2024, is keen on playing international Test cricket despite taking retirement from the domestic circuit. For the unversed, Australia were struggling for quality openers before the 2nd Test, and the selectors had Mitchell Marsh as an option.
Thus, Marsh has expressed that he is open to a return to the Australian Test side. Although Marsh is not in the scheme of things and he is now retiring from the Sheffield Shield, his chances of returning to the Australian side are quite bleak.
Marsh is struggling for runs in domestic cricket
Mitchell Marsh has played just two innings so far for Western Australia in the ongoing Sheffield Shield trophy. The 34-year-old is struggling as he has amassed just 13 runs across two innings. Marsh will next be in action for Western Australia in February when WA take on Tasmania at 8:00 am IST.
However, the remaining three Ashes matches will be over by them and it is likely that he might soon announce his red-ball retirement as well soon.
