With the T20 World Cup 2026 around the corner, teams are keeping their T20I preparation on top. Fresh off a dominant series win over Ireland, the Tigers are grinding harder than ever, eyeing a powerful run on the global stage.
Even after the T20I series win, Bangladesh still has some woes to correct. To sharpen their skills and elevate their game, the Tigers have kicked off an intense week-long camp to fine-tune every detail.
Emon-Tanzid dive into a high-intensity training camp with Simmons and his crew
After starting the recent T20I series with a flaw, Bangladesh made a fierce comeback as they sealed the series with two consecutive victories. Yet even in victory, a few glaring flaws stood out, demanding urgent fixes before the T20 World Cup. As per the new rules, the Bangladeshi players have assembled at the BCB academy.
In the scheduled week-long camp under the supervision of head coach Phil Simmons, assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin, and batting coach Ashraful, the Tigers were seen hustling hard in the nets. Parvez Hossain Emon and Tanzid Tamim focused on carving gaps through the offside, sharpening their powerplay dominance ahead of the big stage.
In recent matches, Bangladesh’s top order faced heat for relying too heavily on one scoring zone. To resolve this issue, a detailed net session was organized. Speaking to Cricbuzz, Salahuddin said it was for the openers to sharpen up their temperament during the early overs.
“Actually, this (trying to make sure they play through offside) was mainly for Emon and Tamim. We always tend to over-hit and especially in the first six overs. But you can't always play big shots and expect to build a long innings. You have to use the bowler's pace too,” he said.
BPL set to play a game-changing role ahead of the T20 World Cup
After a lot of turmoil, another exciting edition of the Bangladesh Premier League is coming up. As the T20 World Cup is commencing in February 2026, the upcoming edition of the league will be crucial for the Bangladesh side to pick players for their T20 World Cup squad. Speaking on the matter, Salahuddin revealed that the coaching unit will closely track every Tiger throughout the tournament.
“We'll work on those areas over these few days. If they can develop these skills even a little and apply them in the BPL, that will be satisfying for us and it may also help us in the World Cup,” he said.
“We'll keep an eye on every aspect - their mental state, their physical condition, their technical work - everything needs to be monitored. We have to assess exactly where each player stands (before the T20I World Cup),” he added.
The new season of the Bangladesh Premier League kicks off on December 26, and once it wraps up, the Tigers will dive straight into their first international assignment of 2026, the T20 World Cup. Ahead of that, BPL has become the perfect stage for them to fine tune their skills.
