In a significant development, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has found Team India guilty of maintaining a slow over-rate in 2nd ODI vs South Africa. The two teams met in Raipur recently, where India were ruled to be two overs short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration.

ICC imposes fine on India stars for breaking code of conduct

In the latest events, the ICC took to social media platforms to reveal that KL Rahul and co have been fined 10% of their match fees for the incident that occurred in the 2nd ODI in Raipur.

"India have been charged in accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences," read ICC's press release.

ICC over-rate rule explained

It is worth noting that, according to ICC rules, all the players are fined 5% of their match fees for every over they lag behind the required rate. Thus, according to the same rule, KL Rahul and his men have been fined 10% of their match fees.

The ICC official further added that the India skipper adhered to the punishment, which didn't lead the officials to proceed with a formal hearing. Despite slowing things down in 2nd ODI, the result didn't go in India's favour as South Africa won that ODI.

Eventually, India went onto win the series and lifted the trophy after handing a comprehensive nine-wicket defeat to South Africa.  Further, the series didn't going well for Harshit Rana as the right-arm seamer was also fined 10% of his match fees in the first ODI because of his aggressive send-off to Dewald Brevis.
