I'll go back to the top next game: Aaron Finch set to resume opening again

Australia's T20I captain Aaron Finch is set to return to the opening position from the second T20I against England in Canberra.

Finch raised eyebrows when he demoted himself to the No.4 spot during the T20I series against the West Indies, with Cameron Green taking up the opening spot.

Finch scored 58 and 15 in Australia's 2-0 win over the Windies before getting run-out for 12 in Sunday's fixture against Australia in Perth.

Speaking to media after the 1st T20I, Finch confirmed that he will return to his favoured position from the next game.

Here's what Aaron Finch said:

"I'll go back to the top next game, which was always the plan," as quoted by The West Australian.

Finch also revealed the thought-process behind giving Cameron Green his opening spot in the first 3 T20Is of the home summer.

The Australian skipper stated that the management wanted to give the seam-bowling all-rounder more game-time at the top in case he is called-up to the T20 World Cup squad as an injury cover for someone.

"It was just about giving Greeny more opportunity at the top and trying things ... in case he had to be called into the (World Cup) squad."

Green had a sensational outing against India earlier this month, but he struggled to produce an innings of substance in the three home T20Is, managing scores of 14, 1, 1.

The 2nd T20I will take place at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on October 12.
