WA vs NSW: Jhye Richardson powers Western Australia to a thumping victory

Western Australia secured a nine-wicket victory over New South Wales in Match 6 of the Australia Domestic One Day Cup 2022-23 on Saturday (October 1) at Perth. 

Richardson, Behrendorff steamroll New South Wales

NSW's decision to bat first backfired as they were rocked by proficient bowling performances from Jhye Richardson and Jason Behrendorff. Both bowlers exhibited an immaculate piece of swing bowling which stunned the visitors. 

In the ninth over, NSW were stuttering at 20/6, with Moises Henriques (1) and Daniel Hughes (0) already back to the hut. Afterwards, Daniel Sams (26) and Sean Abbott (12) were the key contributors as NSW were all-out for 76. 

Richardson finished with his best List-A figures of 4/24, while Behrendorff took three wickets. 

WA secure a comprehensive victory

In response to the chase, WA openers Josh Phillipe and D'Arcy Short were clinical to provide a stable start. The duo added 44 runs, before Short (18) was dismissed by Liam Hatcher. 

Then, Phillipe remained unbeaten on 37 off 46, and Sam Whiteman scored 14* off 18 to seal the chase for the team in 17 overs.
