Virat Kohli joins Mohammad Hafeez, Shakib al Hasan for a rare record

Kohli’s innings against South Africa in the first match marked the 100th of his glittering T20I career. The cricketer has already represented Team India in 102 Tests and 262 ODIs, having featured in 173 and 253 innings in the two formats respectively.

The seasoned campaigner has now become the first-ever Indian to play at least 100 innings in each of the three formats of the game. Overall, he is the third cricketer ever to achieve the milestone after former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez and Bangladesh’ star all-rounder Shakib al Hasan.

The 33-year-old also claimed another elite batting record in T20I cricket through his latest appearance against the Proteas.

Kohli, with 3,663 runs in the truncated format, has now surpassed Martin Guptill to score the highest number of runs after the first 100 T20I innings. The New Zealand opener piled up 2,976 runs off his initial 100 T20I knocks for his country.
