Indian opener Shubman Gill continued his rich form in the ongoing County Championship 2022 for Glamorgan County Cricket Club (GCCC).

Gill, playing his third match for Glamorgan, registered his maiden County hundred against Sussex at Hove in a Championship Division Two match. This was the 23-year-old's eighth ton in First-class cricket since making his debut for Punjab in 2017.

Gill's knock of 119 included 16 fours and two-towering sixes. His innings was brought to a close by off-spinner Jack Carson on Day 2 after Gill resumed his innings from 91.

Glamorgan were 277 for five, when Gill was dismissed. Gill scored 91 runs against Worcestershire on his County debut.

Overall, Gill has scored 3,121 runs from 38 FC matches, at an impressive average of 53.81, with eight tons and 16 half-centuries.  For India, the Punjab-born has played 11 Tests, and 9 One-Day Internationals (ODI).

He was recently awarded the Man of Series trophy during India's ODI tour of Zimbabwe and West Indies, respectively.

Glamorgan skipper David Lloyd praised Gill for his knock on Day 1, calling him a great prospect for the future.

Lloyd on Gill

"For someone so young he's got a very bright future, he is a good person to have around the batting group. He gives good advice to the younger batters and has been great."
