The left-arm spinner Nashra Sandhu has replaced Fatima Sana in Pakistan's squad for the Women's Asia Cup slated to be played next month in Sylhet.

Sana injured her ankle during her stint with the Barbados Royals in the Women's Caribbean Premier League 2022. Since then, she has not been part of the training camps of the national team for the continental tournament.

Sandhu has played 49 ODIs and 28 T20Is, and scalped a total of 86 wickets. Her best performance of 4/26 came against the Indian team in the 2017 World Cup.

With an economy of 5.79 in the shortest format, the 24-year-old certainly will add a lot of value to the Women in Green.

Sandhu last featured for Pakistan in the ODI World Cup earlier this year, wherein she picked nine wickets in seven appearances, and was the most economical bowler.

Currently, the Pakistan women's team are undergoing a 10-day camp at Lahore Country Club in Muridke, which will end on 27 September. Then, the team will fly out to Bangladesh for playing in the Asia Cup.

Pakistan will kick-start their campaign with a clash against Malaysia on October 2. They will face arch-rivals India on October 7. The last meeting in the Commonwealth Games 2022 witnessed India chasing down the score of 100 and winning by eight wickets.
