As many as three Group A matches of the 2022 Royal London One-Day Cup were played out on August 19. Here is a look at the high points from each of those fixtures.

Middlesex vs Warwickshire

Will Rhodes’ Warwickshire failed to chase down hosts’ monumental 374-run total to concede their second defeat of the ongoing Royal London One-Day Cup 2022 season.

Earlier in the day, the Middlesex batters piled up 374-3 off the back of centuries by Sam Robson and captain Stephen Eskinazi. Later, middle-order pinch-hitters Max Holden and Pieter Malan turbo-charged the innings with 30-odd ball half-centuries each.

Barring Dom Sibley’s 89 at the top for Warwickshire, none of their batters managed to make a threatening impact in the run-chase. A four-fer for Luke Hollman and assistance from Max Harris, Toby Greatwood and Umesh Yadav dusted the visitors with a 128-run defeat at Radlett.

Brief scores:

Middlesex: 374-3 (50)

Sam Robson 111 (107), Stephen Eskinazi 102 (107)

Surrey vs Gloucestershire

Jack Taylor dazzled with both bat and ball as the visiting Gloucestershire drawcards pulled off a remarkable heist against Surrey at The Oval.

Chasing 293 to earn two crucial Group A points, the Gloucs run-chase featured a crafty 49 from opener Ben Charlesworth and contributions from five of their middle-order batters.

Apart from Taylor, brothers Tom and Oliver Price also made impact as both scored handy runs, with the latter of the two even picking two wickets with the ball.

Brief scores:

Surrey: 292-9 (50)

Ben Geddes 71 (86), Cameron Steel 61 (54)

Jack Taylor 3-38, Oliver Price 2-34

Gloucestershire: 294-8 (47.3)

Somerset vs Sussex

Sussex catapulted themselves to the top of the Group A points table following their 201-run triumph against hosts Somerset.

Marking their fifth win of the season and their third in succession, the Sussex batters flayed the Somerset bowling attack while piling up 397-5 off their 50 overs. Opener Ali Orr struck a remarkable double hundred, while interim captain Cheteshwar Pujara continued his fine-tune with the bat through his run-a-ball 66.

After a dominant display by the batters, Sussex bowlers, especially Bradley Currie and James Coles kept tendering match-defining setbacks to the hosts. The two bowlers shared six wickets between them and were instrumental in setting up a 201-run table-topping win for their side.

Brief scores:

Sussex: 397-5 (50)

Ali Orr 206 (161), Cheteshwar Pujara 66 (66)

Jack Brooks 2-74, Joshua Thomas 1-39
