Will Debutant Shaik Rasheed Open For CSK In Devon Conway's Absence Vs LSG?

CSK are up against LSG in the match 30 of IPL 2025 in Lucknow and the away team has made some big changes in the playing XI. They have dropped Devon Conway and Ravichandran Ashwin for the game, and would be hoping that the two new additions, Shaik Rasheed and Jamie Overton make some difference to their fortunes.

Also, CSK have chopped and changed their opening duo in this season, but nothing has worked so far. They started with Rachin Ravindra and Rahul Tripathi at the top, but Tripathi could not do anything significant. Then came Devon Conway with Rachin, but his strike-rate turned out to be a big issue, and he has now been dropped.

Now, Shaik Rasheed who is a top-order batter is included in the playing XI and there might be chances that he could open the innings. However, there is Rahul Tripathi as well, and as CSK started the tournament with him as an opener with Rachin Ravindra, they might want to go back to that combination again.

Also, Shaik Rasheed batted at number 3 in domestic tournaments, SMAT 2024 and Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025. He was also India's number 3 in the U19 World Cup he played some years ago, thus he could be used in that position against LSG too. However, as Tripathi did decently at number 3 in the last match, and has found success at that position in the past, CSK might go for straight swap with Devon Conway and he might open today.
