In a massive setback for Punjab Kings (PBKS), ace speedster Lockie Ferguson is all set to be ruled out of the ongoing IPL 2025 season. Ferguson sustained an injury during Punjab's previous IPL 2025 encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), failing to complete his first over in the game.

Lockie Ferguson Likely To Be Ruled Out Of IPL 2025

Led by Shreyas Iyer, Punjab Kings will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in their sixth group-stage match of the ongoing IPL season on Tuesday. Ahead of the crucial face-off, Punjab's fast bowling coach and former Australian all-rounder James Hopes revealed that Lockie Ferguson is highly doubtful for the remainder of the season.

"Ferguson is out indefinitely, and us getting him back by the end of the tournament is a very low percentage. I think he's done a real decent injury to himself," Hopes was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

For the unversed, Ferguson could bowl only two balls before an injury forced him to hobble off the field. As he didn't return to the field, the Kings had to use multiple bowling options, including Shashank Singh. Ferguson, who has been an injury-prone bowler throughout his career, has apparently damaged his left thigh.

Before getting injured, Ferguson showcased remarkable form with the ball, scalping five wickets at a superb strike rate of 13.60. Given that he was one of the Kings' in-form pacers, his injury comes as a massive blow to the team.

Regarding Punjab Kings, the Shreyas Iyer-led side has won three out of its first five games. The hosts might replace Ferguson with Australian pacer Xavier Bartlett in the upcoming match against KKR on Tuesday.
