CSK players in the team huddle (Source:@BabbluSz/X.com)
In the match 30 of IPL 2025, Chennai Super Kings are up against Lucknow Super Giants. It is a big game for the five-time champions, CSK ,who have won just one out of their six matches so far and urgently need to get back on track with some consecutive wins.
CSK Eye Comeback Against High-Flying LSG
On the other hand, is the franchise that has done well this season. They have won four out of their six matches, and it won't be easy for CSK to go past them if they continue with the brand of cricket they are playing. However, CSK have always refrained from making changes to their playing XI unless it is absolutely necessary and thus expecting big changes from them is probably expecting bit too much.
Now, Matthew Hayden, who has played for CSK in the past has also stated that he does not expect Dhoni to make major changes in his chatt on JioHotstar. He added that they are likely to continue their tried and tested process, but he also mentioned that CSK have to find a point of difference. He also warned CSK against getting stagnant with their approach, and should clearly find a way to make a shift.
“I doubt we’ll see major changes – it’s just not in CSK’s DNA. Their approach will likely be: back yourselves, trust the process. They might not be the team that scores 60 in the powerplay, but they have to find a point of difference.
“Without change, it becomes insanity – doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. Whether they recognise and act on that is still uncertain, but something clearly needs to shift."
So, it would be interesting to see how CSK go about their business against LSG. Their batters needs to show more intent and the onus will be on the opening duo of Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway to set the tone.
