The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) social media team has mastered the art of pre-match banter. Ahead of their high-stakes IPL 2025 clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the franchise dropped a hilarious parody video targeting none other than MS Dhoni.

The clip features LSG spinner, Digvesh Rathi, channelling his inner “Thala” with uncanny swagger. Is it just a fun online banter or does it reflect more on MS Dhoni's recent struggles to generate runs with the bat this season?

Set to the iconic “Bole Jo Koyal Baag Mein”—a song synonymous with Dhoni memes, the video playfully nods at the CSK legend’s legacy, captioning it, “Turns out, Digvesh has 7 letters too…” In the clip, Digvesh Rathi mimics Dhoni’s signature calm demeanour, practising ball-handling drills while lip-syncing the retro track.

The tongue-in-cheek reference to Dhoni’s iconic jersey number 7 (Digvesh’s name also has seven letters) and his cult-followed persona instantly struck a chord. Fans flooded social media, with one user slyly commenting, “More Impactful Than...You Know Who.”

What Will Be The Outcome Of Dhoni vs Rathi?

With the match featuring everything at stake for the Yellow camp, the video also poses an intriguing question Rathi can trouble Dhoni? Looking at the records, MS Dhoni has been quite comfortable against leg-spinners in the IPL.

Out of his 104 innings, he was only dismissed 21 times while maintaining an average of 33. Hence, his chances against Rathi are fair given the fact that the leg-spinner comes to bowl in the middle and the death overs.

Nevertheless, CSK and LSG have developed a competitive rivalry, at least on social media, with both teams eyeing for dominance in the IPL’s battleground. While Dhoni remains a fan favourite, LSG’s lighthearted dig highlights the franchise’s knack for blending cricket passion with pop-culture humour.
