Indian spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal is showcasing his skills in the County Championship 2024. Playing for Northamptonshire, Chahal has been outstanding with the ball, especially in gloomy conditions, where spin-bowlers generally don't get any help.

In the ongoing clash against Derbyshire, the leg-spinner picked up a 5 for 45 to claim his third first-class 5-wicket haul. Chahal joined Northamptonshire for a couple of Championship matches, and has instantly made a mark, terrorising the Derbyshire batters with his guile.

He started the carnage by picking the all-important wicket of Wayne Madsen with a beauty. Aneurin Donald and Zak Chappell were his next two victims. He then scalped Alex Thomson for 2, but the best of the lot was saved for the last.

Chahal had picked up 4-wickets and needed 1 more to complete a fifer. With the tail-ender Jack Morely on strike, Yuzi Chahal came over the wicket and pitched a length ball on the stumps, enticing the batter to come forward. The ball spun away sharply and beat the outside-edge to castle the stumps. Courtesy of his brilliant spell, Derbyshire were bundled out for a mere 165 in their first innings.

Chahal eyeing India comeback

Chahal is a curious case for everyone. He was picked in the T20 World Cup squad, but didn't get a single game as the Indian team triumphed in the mega event. It has been nearly one-year since he last played for India.

It was during the T20I series against the West Indies that Chahal last featured for the Men in Blue. Since then, he has been replaced by the other spinners in the side, and now through the County stint, he is eyeing India comeback.
