Bangladesh's premier spinner Taijul Islam enjoyed stellar success with the ball, as he rattled South Africa with a sensational five-wicket haul in the ongoing second Test between the two sides in Chattogram. Taijul, who scalped the prized wickets of Aiden Markram and Tristan Stubbs on day 1, struck once again in the game, breaking the crucial stand between Tony de Zorzi and David Bedingham.

The incident occurred during the 99th over of South Africa's innings when Bangladesh desperately needed someone to break the century partnership between Bedingham and De Zorzi. Taijul Islam once again proved to be the hosts' saviour, dismissing Bedingham with a lethal delivery.

The experienced left-arm spinner had a horrible start to his over, with Bedingham pummelling his first ball into the stands for a six. However, he quickly redeemed himself, cleaning him up with a beauty.

From around the wicket, Taijul Islam bowled a well-disguised arm ball, that came back into Bedingham after pitching around the middle stump. As Bedingham tried to play an audacious slog sweep, the ball sneaked through his bat-pad gap, uprooting his leg stump. After dismissing the South African batter, Taijul gave him a death stare, celebrating his success in a unique way.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, South Africa capitalised on the batting-friendly conditions of Chattogram. Although stand-in skipper Aiden Markram couldn't convert his start into a significant score, Tristan Stubbs and Tony de Zorzi slammed scintillating tons to keep the hosts at bay. At the time of writing, South Africa were comfortably placed at 405 for five, with Ryan Rickelton and Wiaan Mulder batting on 8* and 7*, respectively.
