Pat Cummins and Australia are back with their verbal attacks as the Border-Gavaskar series fast approaches. Both India and Australia are at the top of the WTC points table and with India losing against the Kiwis, the importance of the upcoming BGT has increased for the visitors.

The Rohit Sharma led Indian side was expected to clean sweep the New Zealand side, who were coming into the series on the back of an embarrassing loss Vs Sri Lanka. However, the tables turned as the Black Caps defeated the home side in Bengaluru and followed it up with yet another clinical win in Pune to go 2-0 up in the series.

This was India's first series defeat at home in the past 12-years, showcasing the dominance of the Rohit Sharma led side. However, India's loss opens the opportunity for Pat Cummins' Australia to take advantage.

Recently at the launch of his book 'Tested', Pat Cummins talked about India's loss and vows to silence the Indian team once again.

"I think any time a team's under pressure, it's not a bad thing if you're playing against them. "But they've been out here before and performed well. Our job is to try and keep them quiet, see how we go," Cummins told AAP.

India eye series hat-trick Down Under

India in recent years have dominated the Australia team, both home and away. The Aussies have not won a single Test series against India since the 2014-15 series, and interestingly, India have won the series in their own backyard, twice in the last two attempts.

In the 2018-19 tour, the Virat Kohli led India side won a hard-fought series, 2-1. and followed it up with another 2-1 victory, this time under the astute leadership of Ajinkya Rahane in the 2020-21 tour.

Will third time be a lucky charm for Team India? The Rohit Sharma led side will be looking to make hat-trick of series victories, Down Under as they also look to seal their place in the WTC finals.
