The IPL 2025 retention deadline day is just around the corner as the buzz has started about which players will be retained and which players will be left out by their respective franchises. Talking about the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), they, too, have several options in minds when it comes to retaining players.

RCB drop massive hint on KL Rahul's homecoming

As of now, reports have come up that Virat Kohli will be the sole retention and will also lead the RCB side next season. Another rumour is that the Bengaluru based franchise will try and draft in KL Rahul in the side as they view him as the ideal captaincy candidate.

Being a local boy, KL Rahul has all the knowledge and understanding of playing at the Chinnaswamy stadium and has previously represented RCB in the IPL under the leadership of Virat Kohli.

If RCB get him, the Karnataka player can do the dual role of captaining and wicket-keeping for them. With the retention deadline day on October 31, RCB have dropped a massive hint on KL Rahul's inclusion.

In a video shared on RCB's social media handles, KL Rahul was the only non RCB player as the head scout and team bosses discuss about which players to be retained and how the auction dynamism works.

Which players will RCB retain?

As of now, Virat Kohli is a sure-shot retention. Also, the team lacks a quality Indian pacer, and hence, they'll most likely retain Mohammed Siraj as well.

The franchise has spent money on two promising cricketers, Will Jacks and Yash Dayal and will most likely retain the two players as well.

However, the team will need to decide on the future of captain Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell. Faf isn't reverse ageing and Maxwell had a horrendous IPL 2024 campaign. Expect the franchise to release the two superstars as RCB embark on a new journey.
