India's stylish batter Shubman Gill looked sublime for a glorious knock in the ongoing second Test against Bangladesh at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. However, the right-handed batter couldn't reach his fifty, as Shakib Al Hasan outfoxed him with a beautiful delivery.

The incident occurred during the 18th over of India's first innings when Gill was trying to form a consolidating stand alongside Rishabh Pant following Jaiswal's departure. Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto's decision to continue Shakib Al Hasan at one end paid rich dividends for the visitors, with the ace spinner dismissing Gill at a crucial juncture of the match.

From around the wicket, Shakib bowled a full-length delivery, inviting Gill to play an aggressive shot. As the Punjab batter stepped out and played a lofted shot, he only managed a top edge, with Hasan Mahmud taking a simple catch at long off.

After restricting Bangladesh to a meagre 233-run total in their first innings, India had a dream start with the bat, as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma stitched a scintillating stand for the opening wicket. Although Rohit departed for a quick-fire 23, Jaiswal hammered the visiting bowlers all around the park, composing a glorious 51-ball 72 in this process.

Gill played a pivotal role in setting the foundation for India's formidable first innings score, contributing 39 runs with the help of four boundaries and a solitary six.

However, soon after Gill's departure, Rishabh Pant lost his wicket while playing an audacious shot off Shakib Al Hasan. His dismissal brought KL Rahul into the middle. At the time of writing, India were 184 for four, with Kohli and Rahul batting on 24* and 14*, respectively.
