In a remarkable achievement, England's swashbuckling batter Ben Duckett has gone past Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill in the list of highest run-getters in international cricket this year. The explosive southpaw showcased his hard-hitting prowess in the decider of the ongoing five-match series against Australia, hammering a magnificent knock at the County Ground in Bristol.

Ben Duckett's glorious hundred helped him complete 1000 international runs in 2024, surpassing the Indian batting duo of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill on the list. He became the sixth overall batter to breach the 1000-run landmark in international cricket this year. He also eclipsed Joe Root's tally of 986 runs, becoming England's leading run-getter in 2024.

Ben Duckett's Stunning Century Ensures A Competitive Score For England

After Australia's stand-in captain Steve Smith won the toss and opted to bowl, England were off to a flier, courtesy of Phil Salt's flamboyant cameo. Although the hosts lost Salt and Will Jacks in quick succession, Duckett's counterattacking stand with Harry Brook helped them claim the driving seat.

While Brook smashed seven gigantic sixes for his breathtaking 52-ball 72, Duckett garnered 107 runs before Travis Head outfoxed him. After his departure, Brydon Carse joined Jacob Bethell in the middle. At the time of writing, England were 242 for six, eyeing for a fitting finish with more than 15 overs left.
