Indian captain Rohit Sharma resorted to his amusing self while adjusting his fielders against England on the opening day of the fifth Test match at Dharamshala.

Known for his astute leadership and precise field placements, Sharma was spotted ‘manhandling’ young Sarfaraz Khan at leg gully in a rather comical manner at a time when the Englishmen had reached 145-3 in the afternoon session.

At the start of the 40th over of the first English innings on Day 1, Indian captain Rohit Sharma brought in a leg gully in the form of Sarfaraz Khan.

As Kuldeep Yadav was preparing his run-up to bowl to Jonny Bairstow, Sharma and Sarfaraz were seemingly engaged in a brief conversation about the precise fielding position, before the Indian skipper himself personally located his younger teammate at the spot, thus evoking a laugh riot among on-air commentators as well as among the cricket-loving netizens.

While Rohit Sharma’s pinpoint field positioning may not have yielded a wicket at the time, the Englishmen eventually crumbled out for 218 in just 57.4 overs.

Kuldeep Yadav ended up seizing five England wickets to finish with astonishing figures of 5-72, while his senior teammate and 100-Test player Ravichandran Ashwin picked up 4-51 from his 11.4 overs.

Ravindra Jadeja accounted for the remaining wicket on offer by trapping Joe Root plumb in front of stumps.

Later in the day, captain Sharma shared yet another fifty-plus stand with in-form partner Yashasvi Jaiswal as India seized complete control of the opening day of the final Test.
