Team India slumped to some deep trouble while chasing England’s 353-run first innings total on Day 2. After losing captain and opening batsman Rohit Sharma early, in-form youngsters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill staged India’s valiant recovery with an 82-run stand before English spinners cut through the hosts’ middle-order.

Precariously placed at 177-7 at one stage, wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel and tailender Kuldeep Yadav survived a challenging final hour of the day to take their team to 219 before stumps.

Notably, mere minutes before the close of play, captain Sharma and Gill managed to soak in some fun despite India’s dwindling first innings condition.

The two top-order batters, witnessing the proceedings from the confinements of the Indian dressing room, playfully mimicked the batting stance of Kuldeep, with Gill replicating the tailender’s defense while Sharma imitating his pull.

At a time when Kuldeep Yadav was batting at 17* during the final stages of Day 2, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were spotted playfully mimicking the tailender’s unorthodox batting style from their dressing rooms.

Gill laughingly dramatized Yadav’s defensive shot while captain Sharma imitated his pull.

Kuldeep Yadav was eventually knocked over by James Anderson the following morning for 28. Joining the crease at 177-7, he had shared 76 runs with Dhruv Jurel to take India past the 250-run mark.

Emboldened by his late efforts, Jurel brought up his own maiden half-century and added 130 runs with the tail to keep India’s deficit down to 46 runs.
