Indian debutant Akash Deep muscled away Shoaib Bashir for a massive six over cow corner to add some vital late runs alongside half-centurion Dhruv Jurel on Day 3.

Making his way to the crease at 253-8 following the dismissal of Kuldeep Yadav, the 27-year-old fast bowler scored nine runs in all during his 40-run tenth-wicket resistance with the wicketkeeper-batsman.

Akash Deep arrived at the crease within the first session of the day after the dismissal of Kuldeep Yadav. Following Yadav's departure, Akash added vital Indian runs with the wicketkeeper-batsman in the tail.

The fast bowler shared 40 runs with Dhruv and clubbed nine of those runs from his own bat to take India near the 300-run mark.

In the 101st over of the innings, Akash Deep even swatted raging English spinner Shoaib Bashir for a massive six over the cow corner.

Later in the same over, Akash Deep was trapped in front to become Shoaib Bashir's fifth Indian victim of the innings.

Team India eventually wrapped up at 307, with Dhruv Jurel top-scoring in the innings with a career-best 90. His late resistance while batting with the tail kept India's first innings deficit down to 46 runs.

Earlier in the match, Akash also struck thrice with the new ball to put England on the backfoot straightaway at Ranchi. However, the visitors still ended up tallying 353 off the back of Joe Root's century and Ollie Robinson's maiden fifty.
