In the ongoing second Test between India and New Zealand at the MCA Stadium in Pune, the hosts are in deep trouble as they are losing wickets a regular interval while chasing 359 runs to save the series.

The hosts have already lost the first Test, and in order to save the series, they need to chase the target. However, the hosts lost Rohit Sharma early, but Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill stitched a 62-run stand for the 2nd Test. While Jaiswal stitched 77 (65), his wicket left India in trouble. Further, Rishabh Pant's wicket too left a huge dent on the run-chase.

Notably, Pant returned to the pavilion with a three-ball duck after he fell short of the crease and was run out. On the 2nd ball of the 23rd over, Virat Kohli gently placed the ball towards the third man and ran for a single. Meanwhile, the fielder threw the ball towards the keeper, and Pant fell short of his crease despite putting a dive.

There was a pin-drop silence over the dismissal as Virat was also disappointed by the wicket. Meanwhile, the internet was also divided as a section of fans criticised Virat for taking a run, while a few also remarked that it was Pant's call and he could have said no to Kohli for the run.

Rishabh Pant's Return To Form After Comeback

Pant has been India's one of the players to watch out for since his Test comeback. Against Bangladesh, he smashed a century and nearly smashed a ton against New Zealand, but fell on 99 in Bengaluru.

However, in the second Test, Pant is yet to make a mark and fell on just 18 (19) in the first innings.
