In a significant milestone, Mumbai's tailender batter Tushar Deshpande scripted history with a heartening century at No. 11 during a Ranji Trophy knockout game against Baroda. The highlights of the innings reflect Deshpande's impeccable shot-playing ability and fearless mindset.

Mumbai found itself in deep waters after having lost nine wickets at 337 runs in the third innings of the knockout Ranji Trophy game against Baroda at Bandra Kurla Complex Cricket Ground.

While all hopes died down, tailenders Tushar Deshpande and Tanush Kotian emerged from the dust to script an unconventional partnership. Defying the odds, Tushar and Kotian put together a 232-run partnership for the last wicket whilst scoring a century each in the process to script first-class history.

Moreover, Tushar Deshpande attained a career-best with 123 runs off 129 deliveries and also registered the highest score at number 11 in Ranji Trophy history.

Meanwhile, BCCI released the highlight video of Deshpande's historic innings, which included some awe-inspiring shots from the tailender's bat. Tushar unleashed every ounce of his experience to rescue his team from a knockout threat.

The left-hander targeted the left-side boundary to slam back-to-back sixes. He also danced down the track to score a maximum down the ground. Once the batter got settled, he played a few authoritative shots to put Baroda under sheer pressure.

The Baroda bowling unit had no antidote and watched Tushar unleash his inner beast in dismay.

Despite the pressure of the situation and the enormity of the occasion, Tushar Deshpande remained composed and focused on the task at hand, displaying maturity beyond his years as he guided Mumbai's innings with determination and resolve.

His extraordinary partnership with Tanush Kotian and contribution to the team's total was instrumental in shaping the outcome of the match.

Owing to the duo's groundbreaking partnership, Mumbai drew the quarter-final game against Baroda to advance to the semi-finals of the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 season.
